I like Japanese wood-block prints, and these tiles are designed to give an impression of their distinctive style.
They are white earthenware clay with coloured slip decoration, and finished in a smooth transparent glaze.

These designs, commissioned for a hotel, were inspired by Pugin’s 19th century Gothic Revival tiles.
For dramatic impact, I used high relief modelling, to add even more emphasis to the bright colours!
